Fashions Fade, Style Is Eternal

Happy Holi!

Now this is my kind of celebration!  Plumes of colour in the air, on peoples faces, clothes – EVERYWHERE!  I’ve been aching to travel to India to witness this celebration myself and be engulfed entirely by colour.

Holi is a religious spring festival also known as ‘festival of colours’ and is celebrated in India at the end of the winter season, on the last full moon day of the lunar month Phalguna (February/March).   Every year, thousands of Hindus wait, ready to spread the uninhibited excitement and joy.  Holi closes the wide gaps between social classes and brings together the rich, poor, women, men and children to enjoy each others presence on this joyous day.

Apart from celebrating the beginning of the new season, it also has a religious purpose, commemorating many events that are present in Hindu mythology.  Although it is the least religious holiday, it is probably one of the most exhilarating ones in existence!
